2023 Toyota GR Corolla

March 6th, 2023 by

The all new 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is taking the Gazoo Racing world by storm. This rally-racer inspired hatchback comes equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged 3 cylinder engine, 300 horsepower, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It also has GR-Four, all wheel drive with 3 different power settings; making it a speedy car that is ready for different terrains. This makes the GR Corolla the third car in the Toyota GR family; following the GR Supra and the GR86. The 2023 GR Corolla is being offered in three different trims: Core, Circuit Edition, and Morizo Edition. Although they are a highly sought out vehicle, you may not be able to get your hands on all of the models.

Core

The Core is the base trim out of the three GR Corolla models. It comes with a G16E-GTS engine that has 300 horsepower and 273 pounds of torque. Some other highlighted features about the Core is its 18 inch, 15 spoke cast-alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. It also has 4 piston brake calipers with ventilated and slotted rotors. Next, it also has an 8″ audio multimedia touch display equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The gauge cluster is fully digital and is surrounded by a 12.3″ color multi information display. As for safety features, all of the GR Corollas have Toyota Safety Sense 3.0

Circuit Edition

The Circuit Edition is the next trim in the line up. It has the same features as the Core trim, but also with a few more bonus features. First, it has front and rear Torsen limited slip differentials. What makes the Torsen differentials different from plated differentials is that the Torsen works the same as an open differential when the torque applied to both wheels is equal. The Circuit Edition also has a Morizo signed leather shift knob for that extra sporty touch.

The roof of the GR Corolla is carbon fiber with UV protection. This allows you to enjoy the sun but stay safe from its harmful rays. When it is cold out, the vehicle has heated seats, as well as a heated steering wheel. Although the Circuit Edition has some cooler features than the Core, it is a little bit harder to get your hands on one. In the continental U.S, they are only allowing 1,500 units to be sold.

Morizo Edition

The highest trim available in the GR Corolla is the Morizo Edition. While the Core and circuit Editions have 5 seats in the vehicle, the Morizo Edition only has 2. One other thing that the Morizo Edition has is that it has 295 pounds of torque compared to the other trims with 273 pounds;  making this trim the sportiest and fastest GR Corolla yet.

This trim also has front brake cooling ducts. These ducts work by channeling air from a high-pressure source (usually the front surface of the car) to the brake rotor. The air introduced by the brake ducts is much cooler than the brakes, and the airflow continuously moves hot air away and allows the brakes to shed heat at a faster rate. While this is the highest trim of the GR Corollas, it is the hardest to buy. Compared to the Circuit Edition, the continental U.S is only being allotted 200 units to be sold.
