Why won’t my rear window wiper work?

On Toyota SUVs that have a functioning rear window that rolls up and down, not having it rolled up all the way can cause the rear window wiper to not work. If you find that your rear window wiper is not working this is a great thing to check before bringing it in for a diagnosis. Sometimes the rear window will look like it is all the way up but in fact isn’t. As you drive your vehicle the window can sometimes settle down slightly. This can trip the switch in the rear gate making it think the window is open causing the wiper not to work. If you try rolling the rear window down, then up all the way, then try using the rear window wiper this will usually fix the problem.
