What is Leasing?

Leasing a car is a great way to save money and drive a new car with the latest technology. Unlike buying a car, when you lease a car, you don’t own the vehicle at the end of the lease term. Instead, you make monthly payments based on the car’s estimated depreciation over the lease term. Along with any fees or taxes. When the lease ends, you have the option to:

  1. Return the car.
  2. Buy it outright for the residual (which is given at the time of your lease signing and does not change).
  3. Trade it in for a new leased vehicle.

Leasing can be a good option for those who want to drive a new car every few years, have lower monthly payments, and don’t want the long-term commitment of owning a vehicle.

What is Financing?

Financing a car means taking out a loan to purchase the vehicle. You are then responsible to make payments to pay off the loan over a set period of time, typically 3-7 years. When you finance a car, you become the vehicle’s owner once you have made all the payments. The loan can be obtained through a financial institution, such as a bank, credit union or Toyota Financial Services. When you finance a car, you may be required to make a down payment. The down payment goes directly toward the vehicle’s purchase price. This is sometimes required to reduce the amount of the loan. You will then make monthly payments that include both the principal amount of the loan and the interest charged on the loan. The interest rate on the loan will depend on your credit score along with other factors.

Financing can be a good option for those who want to own their vehicle outright and are willing to make a long-term financial commitment.

How do I get a value for my trade?

At Kalispell Toyota we give an actual cash value for all trade-in vehicles. This means what we appraise your vehicle for, is what we will write you a check for. It does not matter if you purchase something from us or not. The best way to get an actual cash value is to bring your trade to Kalispell Toyota. This way we can look over the condition and inspect your vehicle. After inspecting your vehicle we will research multiple book values and pull the CarFax report for your car. Next we will present you with all of the information and give you the actual cash value of your car. This is the amount we will write you a check for.

This process takes around 45 minutes to complete. If you are unable to make it in for an inspection you can use our online tool to get an estimated value for your trade. The estimated value you receive is contingent on the condition of your vehicle once it is inspected in person at Kalispell Toyota.

What is GAP Coverage?

GAP (Guaranteed Asset Protection) coverage covers the difference between the value of your vehicle and the amount you still owe on your car loan or lease in case of a total loss. Such as a theft or accident. When you buy or lease a car, its value depreciates over time. If you have an accident and your car is considered a total loss, your insurance will typically only cover the value of the car at the time of the loss. However, if you still owe more on your car loan or lease than the said value of your car, you could be left with a financial gap. This will need to be paid out of your own pocket.

GAP coverage from Kalispell Toyota protects you from this financial gap. It pays off the remaining balance on your loan or lease, so you don’t have to. You can cancel your GAP coverage at any time. In addition, the prorated amount will be sent to the financial institute where your lease/loan is through and be put towards the remaining principal balance.

What is the Toyota new vehicle manufacturer warranty period and what does it cover?

A Toyota new vehicle manufacturer warranty covers any defects or malfunctions that occur during the specified warranty period. The warranty period for Toyota vehicles is 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, certain components, such as the powertrain, are covered up to 60 months or 60,000 miles. The warranty covers the cost of repairs or replacement of any Toyota parts or components that are found to be defective, as long as they were installed correctly and have been properly maintained.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, or accidents. Similarly it does not cover normal wear and tear items like tires, brakes, wipers or body panels. Additionally, hybrid-related components in Toyota hybrid vehicles are covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first.
