Activities in the Flathead Valley

There is a wide variety of things to do in the Flathead Valley and a lot of those things are season dependent. So we compiled some of our teams favorite things to do whether you visit in the summer or winter!

Summer Activites

Flathead Lake: One of the staples of the region and the largest, natual, freshwater lake this side of the Mississipi is the Flathead Lake. Whether you rent a boat, take a tour, or chill on the shore the lake offers plenty to do.

Glacier National Park: Whether you drive to the peak on the jawdropping and famous “Going to the Sun Road” drive, schedule a tour, hike the plethora of trails or more, Glacier is a must go if you are staying in the Flathead Valley.

Big Sky Mountain: While the giant mountain in Whitefish is mainly known for its skiing, during the summer there is still plenty to do. You can go Ziplining, Hiking, Biking, Scenic tours/lifts and so much more. To find out more, be sure to check out their “Summer Activites” page on their website, or click here!

Winter Activites

Skiing/Snowboarding: While Flathead lake is the Valley’s summer staple during the cold winter months as the snow begins to fall a new favorite emerges: skiing and snowboarding. The afformentioned Big Sky Mountain as well as the Blacktail Mountain both offer loding, resturants, and of course, amazing views while you shred the mountain.

Snowmobiling: If Skiing isn’t your thing, or you are craving something more there are plenty of places to rent snowmobiles and explore Montana in ways many aren’t able to.

Glacier National Park: While you might not be able to do as much hiking as in the summer, there is still plenty to do at Glacier. You can book snowshoeing tours and go to museums.
